Pimp My Shin Ramyun

It’s World Pasta Day today, but let’s get real   noodles > pasta (ooooo, controversial, right? ). Sometimes, I just wanna have a bowl of noodles, but not just any noodles. I’m talking about Pimp My Shin Ramyun instant noodles that are quick and easy but with a little extra love. It’s my secret ramen hack for days when I’m feeling a bit fancy. If you’ve ever been in the mood to elevate your basic instant noodles, this is the recipe for you. Let’s take a regular bowl of Shin Ramyun and turn it into a masterpiece that’ll make you feel like a noodle pro.

Method

Cook the Noodles

Start by cooking your Shin Ramyun noodles according to the instructions on the packet. Be sure to include the vegetable packet that comes with the noodles during the cooking process. Once the noodles are soft and the vegetables have been added in, drain the water from the pot, leaving just the cooked noodles and vegetables behind. Set them aside while you prepare the sauce.

Make the Sauce

In a separate bowl, combine the light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil. Add in half of the seasoning packet (adjust this to your preference if you want more or less seasoning). Stir the mixture well until everything is fully blended, and the sugar has dissolved. This sauce will add depth and richness to your noodles.

Combine Everything

Now that the noodles are drained and the sauce is ready, it’s time to bring them together. Add the cooked noodles into the bowl with the sauce. Toss in the minced garlic, finely sliced spring onions, chili powder, and hot neutral oil. Mix everything together thoroughly, making sure the noodles are evenly coated in the flavorful sauce and the ingredients are well-distributed. This step is where the magic happens, so take your time to ensure every bite is full of goodness.

Top it Off

The final step is all about personalization! This is where you get to have fun and make your noodles your own. I topped mine with a fried egg, a few slices of spam, and a drizzle of chili oil, but the possibilities are endless. You can add tofu, stir-fried vegetables, or even extra chili if you want a spicier kick. Make sure to top your noodles with whatever suits your taste and enjoy!

Directions

  • Cook the Noodles  Follow the instructions on the packet for your Shin Ramyun. Be sure to add the vegetable packet while cooking. Once done, drain the noodles and set them aside.

Notes

  • Don’t overcook your noodles! The key to getting that perfect texture is to cook them just right. Follow the package instructions and avoid boiling them too long.
  • Adjust the seasoning  Depending on how spicy or flavorful you like your noodles, you can always add more of the seasoning packet, soy sauce, or chili powder. Make it your own!
  • Be careful with the hot oil  When adding the hot neutral oil, make sure it’s not too hot as it could cause splattering.
